Mainers, I'd hate to say it: more gubernatorial candidates (most in fact) support a casino in Maine, rather than a National Park.In fact, no candidate supports a North Woods National Park.
Acadia National Park, a relatively small one, creates hundreds of jobs for Mainers.
Casino's bring crime, drugs and prostitution. Kind of the opposite of what Mainers stand for.
This is distressing. This race is already off to a bad start, and the fact that a casino might replace a National Park in Maine makes it even worse.
It's not just the Republicans either. Democrats want the casino, too. I would much rather have the North Woods Park than a casino.
If no candidate is willing to step up to the plate and fight the casino and try for a National Park, then I guess I'm not voting this year.
